Suspension Strut

websitebuilder • Nov 08, 2021

A suspension strut is a shock absorber that is already mounted inside a coil spring, essentially two suspension components in one. This type of dampening structure helps soften the impact of spring forces on the vehicle while also providing structural support for the car’s suspension system.

Experts say that shocks and struts should be replaced every 50,000 to 100,000 miles. However, that’s just a general recommendation. The life span of shocks and struts will depend on your driving patterns.

If your vehicle squeaks. ...Tires are choppy…. Your ride quality is poor. ... Your vehicle nose dives when braking. ... Your vehicle has "body roll." This is a term used to describe how the body of a vehicle feels based on the overall movement. These are signs of a worn strut.

A broken serpentine belt can lead to a sudden loss of power steering in your car, making your steering very difficult to turn. A broken serpentine belt causes the water pump to stop circulating coolant through the engine's cooling system, causing it to overheat. A serpentine belt is different from a timing belt. A timing belt runs the engine camshaft(s) and is hidden under protective covers. A serpentine belt is located on the side of the engine and can be inspected from under the hood.
